The field of mediation, but also the everyday life of lawyers, is changing. Artificial intelligence will not replace mediation in the future, but rather complement it in a meaningful way. Along the individual phases of the mediation process, AI tools can take over tasks that previously took up a lot of time and energy - from preparing and analysing, to structuring information, to documentation and follow-up. This gives mediators more freedom to concentrate on the essentials: the relationship with the parties and the organisation of the process.
AI can help, for example, to visualise conflict patterns, structure meeting notes or precisely record agreements - while always maintaining neutrality and confidentiality. It provides support in the organisation and in the background without touching the core of mediation.
On the contrary: mediators can fulfil their role even more consciously through the targeted use of AI and create more space for empathy, presence and clarity. In this way, technological support is combined with human expertise - for mediation that remains contemporary, efficient and at the same time deeply human.
